Berzilia

Did you know?

This native of South Africa is named after Count Berzelius, the founder of chemical symbols.

Types

There are 12 speices of these upright wiry stemmed shrubs. The flowers are white or cream tightly packed spheres. Berzilia are usually sold when the flower buds are small green balls. These buds are great by themselves and make a good filler with Australian natives.

Selection and Care

Choose bunches with green rather than yellow leaves. These are a long lasting flower. Cut a minimum of 2cm off the stem, strip the bottom leaves off, and put in cold water with a flower preservative. Replace water and preservative daily.
