Proteas
Did You Know?
Proteas are native to South Africa and grow on bushes with strong, woody stems. The long flower ‘petals’ encasing the flower head are actually called bracts, not petals.
About
Proteas make a definite statement in an arrangement.
Purchase flowers with healthy green foliage and flowers without discolouration. Before arranging, cut 2cm off the stem using secateurs and place immediately in water. Change the water daily if possible, adding floral food. Protea’s can tolerate bright light in the home and are long lasting cut flowers.
Available
January to June.
