Roundish fruit with bright green flesh and brown fuzzy skin. The two main types of kiwi fruit available in Australia are standard Kiwi fruit and the newer Kiwi Gold variety which has a thinner, smoother skin and golden flesh.

Selection, Storage and Availability

Choose firm fruit. Kiwis are Ready to use when skin yields slightly with gentle pressure. Leave at room temperature to ripen then refrigerate. Australian Kiwi Fruit are available in Autumn, imported fruit primarily from New Zealand is available all year.


Eat fresh, sliced onto pavlova (an old favorite), desserts and platters. Good fruit for lunch boxes.Yellow or gold kiwifruit also available being more oval in shape.
