Selection and Storage
Celery is a members of the parsley family as is celeriac. Choose celery that look fresh and crisp with perky leaves. Store celery in the crisper section of the refrigerator.
Celery is available all year round with peak season being January-August.
Wash celery before use, if using raw stalks can be soaked to increase crispness. Celery can be eaten raw, braised or stir fried. Celery leaves can be deep fried. celery is good with blue cheese oranges, apples, cream, potatoes, squid, fish, chicken, ham, chives, witlof and orange.
Celery is high in fibre and vitamins, C and K and minerals.
