Selection and storage
Look for pods that are small, clean, fresh and green. Store in a bag in the crisper section of the refrigerator.

Okra is available all year round.
Using
Don't wash okra until just before you cook it as moisture will cause the pods to become slimy. Trim the stem of the okra before cooking. Okra can be boiled or steamed and served warm or cold. Okra is used in Middle Eastern and regional Indian cooking. Okra can be used whole or chopped. Okra are good with tomatoes, onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, meats and yoghurt.
Nutrition Information
Okra is a good source of vitamin C, lutein, magnesium, and potassium. It's also high in fibre.
